I get comments all the time that my home Is cozy and that’s the highest compliment I can receive in my opinion! I want my home to be beautiful, but it also must be functional, and I want it to look like it’s lived in. We love entertaining, so making guests feel welcome is also important to me. Here are a few things I do to achieve the cozy, functional, and inviting spaces:

· Throw Pillows and Blankets – We have a large sectional and almost every piece has a blanket because when we are home that’s where we spend more of our time is cozied up watching tv. When guests come over, I also want them to feel cozy and if they get cold, they have easy access to a blanket and don’t have to ask.

Different texture of throw pillows also creates a cozy vibe.

· Functional – When I’m shopping for new and old pieces to incorporate in my home, I try to make sure they aren’t just for one specific room and that they can be incorporated all throughout the house when I feel like switching it up. For example – I bought 2 poufs from a store when they were on sale for our living room, but I knew that if I didn’t want them there anymore, I could move them to the guest room OR our bedroom.

· Inviting Space – My number one thing I do when creating a space that we feel comfortable living in, but also entertaining in is mixing old with new. When I got into a home and everything is brand new, I usually get an anxious feeling as if I can’t touch anything or I’m scared to sit. When people walk in my old farmhouse, I wanted them to feel like they could kick back and relax. By mixing OLD pieces and NEW I feel it creates a homey/cozy feeling and it doesn’t feel so new and untouchable. I love incorporating antique furniture to our décor and then adding new piece on top of it for a good mix.

We have a brand-new cough, coffee table, side table, and sofa table – while they are rustic they look brand new. By adding antique and vintage pieces to my coffee table, side table, and sofa table it doesn’t make the space stuck-up.
